Are you Autistic? OR Do you have an Autistic child (or children)? Join our study and help us understand the early signs of autism.
We are looking for children, adolescents, and adults diagnosed at age 9 or older (including self-diagnosed adults) to take part in a research study investigating the early signs of autism in Autistic people diagnosed later in life.

Many Autistic People are Diagnosed Later in Life
Although signs of autism can often be apparent during early childhood, many Autistic individuals are diagnosed later in life, despite traits that may have been visible earlier. For many who self-identify as autistic, this realisation comes after extensive research, self-reflection, and feedback from others. This is especially common among girls and women, who are frequently misdiagnosed with other conditions or whose families' concerns are often overlooked or misunderstood.

Why Participate in This Study?
This study has been co-produced with input from neurodivergent people. It aims to identify the early signs of autism in people who are diagnosed later in life, offering valuable insights for clinical practice, families, and schools. By improving healthcare professionals' ability to identify autism earlier, the study will empower Autistic individuals to access the support and resources that meet their specific needs. Early identification can also greatly improve an Autistic person's mental health, self-awareness, and connection to the neurodiverse community. An earlier diagnosis can lead to better understanding and support, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for Autistic individuals and their families.

Who can Participate?
-
Autistic children and adolescents (under 18 years of age) who received their diagnosis of autism at 9 years of age or older AND their parents/guardians.

-
We are recruiting ALL genders (i.e., girls/women, boys/men, and gender diverse individuals).
